Cinco De Mayo Fiesta
When most people think of a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, sombreros, tacos and piñatas come to mind. However, Your Cinco de Mayo Fiesta won’t be complete without a good margarita.
Weather you are planning on celebrating at your house or with us at Limon y Sal, we’re here to make sure you have a great tasting margarita in hand.
The Margarita is one of the most popular cocktails in North America—for good reason. Combining the tang of lime and the sweetness of orange liqueur with the distinctive strength of tequila, our classic Margarita strikes all of the right keys. Although many people reach for premade sour mix, we highly recommend using fresh lime juice. The end result is, let’s face it, superior I’m comparison.
When talking Margaritas, it’s easy to get lost in stories about who invented the drink or get mired in debates over salt versus no salt; blended or frozen. In our opinion, this version is the tried-and-true recipe for the best Margarita you can make. Memorize it, and you’ll always impress your guests at you Cinco de Mayo Fiesta.
The original or classic margarita is a cocktail made with lime juice, simple syrup (melted sugar in water), and triple sec. You can taste the tequila’s natural flavors so it is best suited for a good tequila. It’s not overly sweet or full of artificial sweeteners like store bought margarita mix. It’s real sugar and fresh lime juice.
What You’ll Need:
2 oz- Blanco tequila
1 oz-Fresh lime juice
1⁄2 oz- Orange liqueur (Cointreau, Tripple Sec, or Garnd-Mariener)
1⁄2 oz- Agave syrup.
For the salted rim, take a lime wedge and coat the rim of a margarita glass. Dip in margarita salt, rotating until coated. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with a cup of ice. Shake vigorously and pour straight into a chilled margarita glass with the (now crushed) ice from the shaker. Garnish with a lime wheel. Squeeze in a slice of an orange to make your margarita have that little extra citrus taste.
